A real coffee table read. Every Hotel and reception should have a copy of Randy Couture's 'The Last Round'
Lance Lewis was a young 15 year old who could kick like Bill Wallace and hands like Thomas ‘Hit Man’ Hearns and had very good foot work for his Skill level at this age.
Yes this was many years ago…
Check out Lance at 0.50 sec. In this anti 'bullying video'.
Some of the young fighters of today will not even know Thomas Hearns never mind a local Manchester Lad.
Which when you think back then to put Boxing and Kicking together in the ring was unheard of on this side of the pond.
USA promoted it big with fighters like Joe Lewis and Bill Wallace who were the PKA World Champions the Best the USA promoted through out the World just like
The MMA star of today and Lance Lewis was flying the UK flag some 30 years ago.
I went to see lance at the Ardwick Gym were we sparred and watching him sparring with other people. I could see how his skill at that time was so advanced, doing double kicks with the same leg with jumps kicks and turning kicks.
Lance could do it all, his hand were just as good, the jab, the right hand, body shots this was what and were the sport of martial arts needed to go. Diversity!
Look at Martial arts now.
Like all new sport you need some one to really carry it.
Bruce Lee was the Big Film star who had passed away. The PKA put the Martial Arts in the Ring and the Manchester UK Fighter was Lance Lewis who was the man at the time, and only aged 15 beating men in the ring.
Lance many years ago said look Ronnie, I am going to train at the Kronk Gym, the home of Thomas Hearns. I was so impressed, Yes he went, I thought yes, you go Lance.
It made me thinks..... In fact Lance was the real motivation for me to go train at a Real Muay Thai camp in Thailand. I hope the rerst has made history....
Thanks again Lance.
