Martial art
Martial art, the loving kindnessly/heartly training and development of breathing abilities, mental abilities and physical abilities, that is what we practise training marital arts, otherwise we are training fighting abilites like MMA, "Mad Mans Attitude" and not martial arts, correct? I mean, of course they are training all these abilities too, even more ekstreme, some times much more extreme, kind of over the top. I make parallells to a book I have read many times, "Zen and the art of motocycle maintainance", it says something like (about nepalese carriers while westerners climbing a mountain: "eventhough carrying all this weight of our goods and eventhough we have trained for long time for this trip, they seemed to do it with a kind of unselfconsiousness, effortless and without ego, there was nobody there to force anything, and eventhough we, with our seemingly much greater strength, we much easier became more worn out than these tiny men, who were even allso carrying our goods."
How one may be able to train all these abilities required for martial arts, like real art, not art as in short of artificial (delusive, prettyness, artistical) ..., in ones normal training regime and even in ones daily ordinary life (it is the heart dooing all the training, heartly training) and allso beeing aware of what to be aware of, and how to learn what one has to learn/watch for, then this is what we will be discussing here;
Learning what one needs to learn!
For now, please be aware of, that the natural, continious, never broken flow of energy and move-ing(continious), is most important, as well is courage/fearlessness, Samathi(mindfullness) as well as several other factors - please tell me more of these, as part of your interactive learning, thanks.
This is the beginning, the essentials beeing percieved before building further upon the foundation, the solidity of the strong, not big, body.
Please take a look again on the blog in a few days, and more will be posted reg. this issue.
For the time beeing, new postings may be added with a few days space between, so please return shortly and be further inspired to your training.
The human mind can only take so much in in one setting, "simplicity is the last step of art and the first step of nature" (quote, Bruce Lee). Therefore please sum up evrytime returning, reading anew from start to end again and again. Feks. the thai's use this technique in their training, they keep pounding that poor bag untill the hits and blows become perfect and correct. They train for perfecting and correcting what is not yet correct. They do not train for repeating the same mistakes over and over again. They train for developing feel for correctness, not merely bodily strength or abilities!
I wish good training to all, of all, that one is aware of beeing able to do/master..., and thereby creating real art, real martial art. The expression-ing of beeing able to, instead of beeing artificial or artistic, in the beautifull-related meaning of this very word. If training what one is not yet mastering, the training should be very carefull about training TO understand, what one should be training, instead of repeating what one thinks.... A kind of prepatory training alike learning forms in wushu, the form in wushu making the correct alignment of bones and distribution of power best possible. Wushu and muay thai does it by repetition, but I see this beeing very problematic to practise for westerners, we seldom are aware, that we have to feel, not intellectually think or know. Often we westerners end up repeating the same mistakes instead of correcting them, because our insight is inadequate and we ourselves, are not aware of what is wrong.
I must again strongly advise people to use videorecordings of themselves, to be able to adress any incorrect behavioural tendenses. An alternative is to upload a video to youtube or my personal hotmail adress (pls. ask for this) and FREE evaluation can be made.
Many would probably argue that Bruce Lee's no-form training-practise is good, and it is, if perception and correct guideance is available, but if it is not, I strongly advise, that one look into developing perception reg. how maximum utility of the bodies capabilities is beeing invested in ones practice. This is the very essentials Bruce Lee was trying to teach, bodymechanichs.
I guess that is why the basics are so important, without a solid stance, there is no power in the hits and blows.
Bang Lee, a Hwarang do master says: "It is useless to perform exercises, if these are not executed 100% correct".
If anyone is interested in reading further perspectives on this issue, please write a comment and we will discuss it here.
For now, please practise with develop-ing perception, for your respective Country, not merely for Thailand; Muay thai = boxing Thailand, muay thai boxers are picked to army-services in Thailand, still today...
It is like these thai kids in the video here below unselfconsiously know, that they best learn their abilites into their very core by playing the learning in. The learning is not: "for fun learning", eventhough the learning has an element of playfullness into it. One may better learn stuff, our neurologist tells us, if as many cells as possible is involved in the act of learning, this is the case when one is having fun dooing what one does. The fun has to be kept under strict control though, otherwise one may end up in mere happyness, and that is going overboard in funnyness. The middlepath, Buddha advised, is the way to perfection of manhood, with a mind allways mindfull and in charge of keeping grounded, most important.
The blog seems disorganised - again, sorry guys, but I will find your comments, so please add a commentary anywhere and I will get back to you soon.
